Saving the Tower and more

As the main task in hand progressed, ASTRA could not help itself from extending the brief and embarked on a series of much needed jobs and challenges. We called this `Mission Creep’.

In all, the work had a value to the community of something in the region of £1/4 million which quite rightly provided huge satisfaction to all those involved!

  • Graveyard extended
  • Steep ¼ mile long public path (B.O.A.T) resurfaced and made safe
  • Unsafe path/steps to the church porch removed and relayed to modern safety standards
  • Fencing replaced
  • New metal gates provided
  • Parts of the church painted
  • New electrical supply
  • New floors to tower
  • New access hatch to roof
  • New chemical toilet
  • Unique waterless kitchen
  • `Bell Chamber’ detritus from a hundred years and more removed!
